Visit Scarborough by RailThe infamous A64

Firstly, please allow yourself plenty time to reach Scarborough. The final 50 miles from the A1(M) can be very slow, especially in the holiday season. Much of this final stage on the A64 is single-carriageway road.

The McCain Stadium is on the outskirts of the town, on the A64 York to Scarborough road. As you enter Scarborough on the A64, you will see a retail park on your right with MFI, Magnet, Halfords, B&Q and other stores. You may wish to turn right and use the large car parks in front of these stores. If you park here, just walk across the main road and take the second left (Edgehill Road) which brings you straight to the away turnstiles.

Alternatively, on-street parking is allowed on Edgehill Road itself, adjacent to the visitors' turnstiles - but you may feel your car is more secure in the stores' car park. Do NOT park in the Curry's car park opposite the ground, or it may prove expensive!

If entering Scarborough from the North (Whitby, Teesside) or the South (Bridlington, Hull), you should simply follow signs for York A64 and you will see the ground and the retail stores mentioned above.

By rail:

Scarborough railway station is in the centre of town, about twenty-five minutes' walk from the McCain Stadium. You can take a taxi from the station forecourt (cheap enough if you're sharing) or get a bus from the bus shelters directly outside the railway station. You need the Number 17 Eastfield bus, and it will let you off right outside the ground. The buses are every 15 minutes on a Saturday.

If you have time, why not walk to the ground - there are lots of places to eat and drink on the way. Come out of station and turn left, going past the "Old Vic" pub and Westborough church on your right. You will pass a few other pubs - the "Ship" and the "Commercial" on your right, and the "Tap and Spile" on your left. There are chip shops, cafes and baker's shops on this part of your walk. Straight after the "Tap and Spile", turn left onto Seamer Road (signposted A64 York for drivers) and follow this road to the stadium. There's just one more pub on your route, along with a general store and another chip shop. Oh, and there's yet another chip shop on your way around to the away end of the stadium.
